In line with ICESCO's commitment to advancing women's empowerment and supporting their active participation in sustainable development pathways, the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah participated in the meeting of the Women Development Organization, held in the Emirate of Sharjah on 3 February 2025, with the participation of representatives from government entities, international organizations, women leaders, and experts in social development. This meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to promote women's empowerment across the Islamic world and support initiatives aimed at strengthening their role across various vital sectors.
The meeting served as a strategic platform to discuss ways of strengthening institutional cooperation on women's issues, and to review joint programs and initiatives that support women's leadership and the development of policies related to women's empowerment. Participants also addressed the importance of building a comprehensive database to support decision-making, and enhancing the exchange of expertise among concerned institutions, contributing to the development of effective programs that respond to women's needs across different communities.
The meeting further highlighted the role of media and community awareness in supporting women's issues, through the launch of media campaigns that help shift stereotypes and raise awareness of the importance of women's participation in development. Participants underscored the importance of providing training programs and capacity-building initiatives, enhancing women's presence in decision-making positions and supporting their contribution to comprehensive development.
This event falls within the strategic vision of the Emirate of Sharjah as a supportive hub for women's empowerment and social development, and as an environment that fosters humanitarian and cultural initiatives.
