In line with efforts to strengthen international cooperation and broaden the horizons of strategic partnerships, the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah participated in the visit of an official delegation from the Government of Sharjah to the Sultanate of Oman from 28 to 30 January 2025. The visit aimed to enhance coordination and integration between cultural and educational institutions, and to explore opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and sustainable development. This participation reflects ICESCO's ongoing commitment to supporting regional and international cooperation and exchanging expertise, thereby contributing to comprehensive development and the building of knowledge-based societies.
The visit served as an important platform to learn about leading experiences and initiatives in the Sultanate of Oman, particularly in the areas of cultural heritage protection and the strengthening of national identity, alongside exploring best practices in developing educational programs and sustainable cultural initiatives. Participants also discussed ways to harness innovation and modern technologies in supporting the cultural and educational sectors, enhancing the efficiency of joint programs and projects and elevating their outcomes.
The visit further contributed to strengthening institutional partnerships and building bridges of cooperation between government entities and regional institutions, supporting the implementation of quality initiatives that empower future generations and reinforce the role of culture and education in achieving sustainable development. Participants underscored the importance of exchanging knowledge and expertise, and developing joint programs that support cultural and educational policies at the regional level.
This event falls within the leading role of the Emirate of Sharjah as a global hub for culture and knowledge, and as an enabling environment for international cooperation and joint action. The ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah continues its efforts to strengthen regional integration in the fields of education and culture, and to support initiatives that contribute to building sustainable societies grounded in innovation and cultural diversity, in line with ICESCO's vision and the Sustainable Development Goals.
