In line with efforts to support the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and strengthen the knowledge-based economy, the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah participated in the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF), held from 1 to 2 February 2025 in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, with the participation of a distinguished group of entrepreneurs, innovators, and experts from around the world. This event forms part of ICESCO's ongoing efforts to promote entrepreneurship across the Islamic world and support innovative initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of the regional economy.
The festival served as an interactive platform to showcase the latest solutions in artificial intelligence, agricultural technology, and environmental sustainability, with the ICESCO Regional Office hosting a dedicated pavilion to present its key initiatives and programs supporting startups and entrepreneurs. The event also highlighted innovative models from startups offering pioneering solutions, including smart agriculture technologies, agricultural data analysis systems, and AI-driven solutions to improve food production and enhance resource efficiency, contributing to food security and environmental sustainability.
ICESCO's participation further contributed to strengthening international cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship, and to building bridges of communication between investors, entrepreneurs, and research institutions, supporting the development of an incubating environment for innovation and the exchange of knowledge and expertise. Participants underscored the importance of empowering startups and providing supportive platforms to accelerate their growth, contributing to the creation of new economic opportunities and enhancing the role of technology in serving communities.
