In line with its efforts to support research ecosystems and foster innovation across the Islamic world, the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah participated in the second edition of the Arab World Forum for Scientific Research and Innovation, held from 24 to 25 February 2025 in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, with broad participation from policymakers, researchers, and experts from various countries. The forum comes within the framework of ICESCO’s efforts to promote scientific research and innovation in Arab and Islamic countries and to support the development of national policies that contribute to building knowledge-based economies.
The forum served as a strategic platform to discuss key challenges and opportunities in advancing research systems, and to showcase the latest initiatives and successful experiences in the fields of technology and innovation. This included the application of advanced technologies and digital transformation in supporting scientific research and enhancing its outputs. Participants also addressed the importance of establishing regional and international research collaboration networks and promoting the exchange of expertise among academic institutions and research centers, contributing to accelerating innovation and achieving sustainable development.
The participation further contributed to strengthening research and institutional partnerships and opening new avenues for cooperation among universities, research centers, and government entities. This supports the development of joint scientific projects with tangible impact. Participants emphasized the importance of investing in scientific talent and developing enabling environments for research and innovation, thereby enhancing the capacity of societies to address future challenges and achieve scientific and technological advancement.
This event falls within the strategic vision of the Emirate of Sharjah as a leading regional hub for science and knowledge, and as a supportive environment for research and innovation. The ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah continues its efforts to support programs in scientific research, development, and innovation, and to strengthen international cooperation in science and technology, contributing to the development of sustainable knowledge-based societies capable of advancing comprehensive development in line with ICESCO’s vision and the Sustainable Development Goals.
