In line with efforts to promote the values of intercultural dialogue and to reinforce a culture of tolerance and coexistence among peoples, the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah participated in the “Civilizational Dialogue and Tolerance – Second Lessons” Conference, held from 19 to 21 February 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers, experts, and policymakers from around the world. The conference comes within ICESCO’s ongoing efforts to promote dialogue among cultures and to consolidate the principles of tolerance and international understanding, thereby contributing to the development of cohesive societies based on mutual respect and cultural diversity.
The conference served as an advanced intellectual and academic platform to address key issues related to civilizational dialogue and to present findings from specialized research and studies in the fields of cultural pluralism and peaceful coexistence. It also highlighted ICESCO’s publications and initiatives that promote a culture of dialogue and rapprochement among peoples. Participants further emphasized the importance of integrating humanities and technological disciplines in supporting civilizational dialogue, thereby fostering intellectual innovation and contributing to sustainable solutions to global challenges.
The participation also contributed to strengthening international partnerships in the field of cultural dialogue and building bridges of cooperation between academic and research institutions. This supports the implementation of joint projects aimed at promoting a culture of tolerance and enhancing mutual understanding among societies. Participants underscored the importance of investing in scientific research and knowledge exchange as key tools for advancing civilizational dialogue and reinforcing its role in promoting intellectual security and social stability.
This event falls within the strategic vision of the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates as a global hub for dialogue and tolerance, and as an incubator for leading cultural and intellectual initiatives. The ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah continues its efforts to support programs related to civilizational dialogue and cultural diversity, and to strengthen international cooperation in culture, thought, and scientific research, contributing to more cohesive and sustainable societies, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and ICESCO’s vision for promoting peace and mutual understanding among peoples.
