In line with its mandate to advance the global standing of the Arabic language and strengthen education and knowledge systems, the ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah participated in the Al Qasimia University International Conference on Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers, held under the theme “Curriculum and Specificity” from 15 to 16 May 2025. The conference brought together a distinguished group of academics, experts, and decision-makers from across the globe. This conference forms part of ongoing efforts to advance the teaching of Arabic to non-native speakers and to enhance the quality of modern curricula, thereby fostering intercultural dialogue and reinforcing the presence of Arabic in the global academic landscape.
The conference provided a high-level academic platform to address key challenges in teaching Arabic and to explore emerging trends in curriculum development. Discussions highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence, digital learning tools, and smart education technologies to drive innovation and enhance learning outcomes. Participants also examined avenues to strengthen the role of Arabic as a pillar of cultural and civilizational identity, as well as its contribution to advancing sustainable development in the education sector, in alignment with the priorities of Member States and ICESCO’s strategic framework.
Furthermore, the conference contributed to strengthening international academic partnerships and promoting the exchange of expertise among universities, educational institutions, and research centers. These efforts support the development of academic programs and the global expansion of Arabic language education. Participants underscored the importance of building an integrated, knowledge-based education system grounded in innovation, capable of preparing qualified professionals to promote the Arabic language and enhance its presence in international forums.
This event also reflects the leading role of the Emirate of Sharjah as a global hub for culture and knowledge, and as an enabling environment for intellectual and educational initiatives. The ICESCO Regional Office in Sharjah continues to implement impactful programs and initiatives that foster international cooperation in education, culture, and science, contributing to the development of knowledge-based, innovation-driven societies in line with future aspirations and the Sustainable Development Goals.
